Assurance Wireless is one of the largest players in the provision of the Lifeline programs. Once you register with them, the company provides you with their cell phone which is already activated and ready for you to use. But what if you lose your device, it gets damaged or you want to upgrade from an older model to a smartphone. Do you really need to go back to the company to get a new one or which phones are compatible with assurance wireless?
Well, this will be our main topic of today as a lot of people have been making terrible mistakes and then start complaining. With the Kyocera brand, for instance, a lot of their phones are compatible with Assurance Wireless but some are not. For example, sometime back some Assurance subscribers raised complaints of their Kyocera Hydro Reach phones no operating with the service.

Why the prestigious provider of Lifeline assistance didn’t look into the matter we’re not sure. But the company has some very good phones (compatible with Assurance Wireless) that you can purchase and use with your Lifeline subscription. These phones, including from Samsung and LG, are available on their web Store at favorable prices and interest-free payment plans.
For unknown reasons, though, Assurance Wireless doesn’t recommend purchasing phones from other vendors, including even Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Virgin Mobile. In fact, on their FAQ page, they have highlighted that only phones “purchased from the Assurance Wireless Web Store are compatible with your account”.
Carrier Used By the Assurance Wireless
Before you come to buying your phone, though, it’s important you know of the carrier that Assurance Wireless uses on their cellphones. This will help you in removing confusion when planning to add extra minutes and Data.
Anyways, Assurance Wireless usually operates under the Virgin Mobile network, which is a subsidiary of Sprint Corporation. The network (Virgin Mobile) is affiliated to the Federal government in order to facilitate the effectiveness of the Assurance Wireless Lifeline program. Although we lightly discussed it sometime back, the Lifeline program is a special service that provides the eligible applicants with “free government cellphones” and phone services at reduced charges.
As for the eligibility, the assistance program predominantly includes the low-income earners from the rural as well as the urban areas. Although not all America states have the Assurance Lifeline program, over 250 million people have benefited from it. Our good bet is that you’re amongst these people or you’re hoping to be part of it.
What to Expect
Assurance Wireless often provides the Lifeline Assistance service to only one wireline or wireless account per household. So, don’t bother looking for reasons your application was declined if your brother is already using the service.
If your application is approved, nonetheless, as a new Assurance Wireless customer you get to enjoy FREE:
- Activated Android Smartphone*
- Monthly 2GB Internet Data **
- Monthly Unlimited Texts
- At least 350 Voice Minutes per Month*
- Calls to Customer Care
- Voicemail Account, Caller ID and Call Waiting
- 911 Access
- Unlimited Calls to 211
- Nationwide Sprint® Network Coverage
- Keep Your Current Phone Number
As a subscriber of Assurance Wireless Lifeline Service and, perhaps, your free monthly plan is depleted early, don’t worry. You can get extra voice minutes, data, and internal calling & texting to push you the remaining days, though, for an additional fee.
